Role Purpose

The Assistant Dean will lead the Graduate Program faculty team, student engagement, and delivery of high quality precision graduate education to ensure program outcomes and continuous improvement including collaboration on course offerings, program changes, student experiences. This role oversees faculty-led graduate curriculum development and execution, faculty scheduling, course planning, and advancing the use of sound pedagogical methods. This position collaborates in the program offerings including interdisciplinary activities, mentorship of faculty, faculty scholarship, and service. Must be knowledgeable of professional and national accreditation standards and have experience teaching at the graduate level.   • Provides direct supervision to a core group of directors assigned to each graduate division. Recruits and makes recommendation on hiring to the Dean, and on-boards new nursing faculty to ensure academic and regulatory standards are met or exceeded and student education/learning outcomes are optimally achieved. Facilitates faculty orientation and ensures ongoing development.
  • Ensures use of innovative technological teaching methods and tools for continuous improvement of the Graduate Programs, including advancement of distance education delivery models
  • Responsible for Graduate Clinical programs faculty assignments in collaboration with Program Option Directors. Oversees Graduate program curriculum development, including approval of recommendations for course, curricula and program changes. Prepares outcome measurement data used to demonstrate program effectiveness and to foster nursing program improvement initiatives to stakeholders, such as Advisory Boards, university and programmatic accreditors,
  • Shares responsibility for the School’s program evaluation plan and engages in and monitors performance improvement and documentation; ensures that metrics for analysis are set, change/improvement opportunities are advanced, and that resource allocation for evaluation studies are supported. Ensures outcomes meet the standards of the college, including a focus on retaining and advancing the program’s advanced practice certification pass rates
  • Develops, mentors, and coaches faculty in pedagogy, professional development, and student management issues and serves as an ex-officio member on assigned faculty committees. Advances diversity and inclusion priorities that align with the strategic plan.
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
