Overview


Role Purpose

Manages the strategic and daily operations of the Facility Operations and Horticulture departments. Serves and the conduit between the BJC Planning, Design & Construction department and general contractors by serving as the owner’s representative for all base capital projects occurring in, or impacting SLCH. Accountable for ensuring the hospital’s compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS and NFPA requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Manages the strategic operations of the hospital’s Design & Construction, Facility Operations and Horticulture departments while providing leadership support to the Manager of Engineering, Manager of Building Finishes and Supervisor of Horticulture in their responsibilities of managing the daily operations of their respective staffs.
  • Manages the activities of the Facility Services Project Manager who serves as the owner’s representative on all base capital construction projects through coordination of the planning, design & construction activities within SLCH including operational and utility interruptions, house-wide communications regarding those impacts, and reviewing and signing of risk assessments.
  • Manages the Life Safety Specialist and programs intended to ensure the hospital’s compliance with The Joint Commission, Center for Medicaid & Medicare Services and the National Fire Protection Association. Provides direction on regulatory assessment, identification of deficiencies, and development of plans for improvement.
  • Serves as the point of contact for hospital staff requesting construction services by reviewing their requests and presenting recommendations to the Administrative Planning Committee. Manages the allocation and authorization of both base and infrastructure capital projects to ensure project and overall capital budgets are met or beat.
  • Coordinates the assembly and update of the department’s facility condition assessment form, identification of projects to be included in the hospital’s multi-year model to ensure appropriate allocation of capital dollars for base and infrastructure replacements/upgrades.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
