Role Purpose

Safety: Develops and implements clinical driven emergency preparedness programs. Works under the guidance of leadership and in collaboration with hospital safety and emergency preparedness departments and interfaces with key community first responders, receivers, and governmental agencies at the state and local level.

Infection Prevention: Responsible for providing a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees, and visitors. Provides surveillance programs, data reporting, data analysis, and intervention development aimed at reduction of healthcare acquired infections in patient and employees.


  • Supports programs that maximize the protection of employees, patients and visitors against infectious diseases.
  • Provides the coordination of emergency preparedness and safety departments, management, and staff and assists leadership in establishing an innovative systemwide program to mitigate risk.
  • Develops and conducts emergency preparedness and safety training exercises and oversight to the recall program.
  • Conducts ongoing surveillance for detection of Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and assures compliance in all aspects of infection surveillance, preventions, and control and serves as an infection control resource.
  • Works collaboratively with the infection control committee, environmental health and safety departments, and emergency preparedness committees
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
