Role Purpose

The Product Director will be responsible for defining and delivering a consistent, intuitive and high-quality experience for our patients and care teams across all interaction points including multiple digital channels. They will oversee and direct multiple product teams and coordinate with the design and technology teams to deliver an outstanding user experience.


  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Effectively leads, manages and supervises the product owner team by communicating expectations, setting work schedules and priorities, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth through regular performance reviews, guidance, and encouraging training while presenting new techniques, and recruiting/hiring staff as needed.
  • Accountable for the end-to-end product experience as well as the product teams.
  • Guides all product owners and other product leaders, removes roadblocks, leads all product initiatives, and generally oversees the entire product lifecycle. In conjunction with product owners, Agile coaches, and Scrum masters, oversees Agile development rituals like discovery, grooming and sprint planning meetings with our product development team. Mentor product owners by helping them develop their understanding of the data and their users so they can craft stories and hypotheses. Oversee the product development budget and be financially responsible (e.g., managing monthly spending, forecasting, and stewarding) for the BJC’s resources by aligning programs with organizational goals. Stay abreast of emerging healthcare delivery UX technologies, tools, trends and techniques.
  • In conjunction with the design function, understands stakeholder needs and requirements and represents them in project strategy documents, statements of work, and end-to-end experience backlogs. Understands the market and competition for the product set and develops product and competitive positioning. Provides leadership and implementation in defining and delivering key products.
  • Works closely with the users and technical teams to ensure that the business requirements are clear and well defined and that new product features meet the business requirements. Develops and oversees product performance strategy, including establishing, monitoring, and reacting to relevant KPIs and other metrics of engagement. Planning activities alongside a variety of stakeholders, including design, technology and external partners.
