Memorial Hospital Belleville is a 222-bed, full-service hospital serving southwest Illinois. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018.

The Security Department's goal is to maintain a safe work environment for all staff, visitors, patients and physicians.  Security is responsible for safety at the hospital, care center, medical office buildings and the parking lots.


Overview

Role Purpose

Management, development, and direction of overall operations and activities of the Security and Telecommunication Departments. May include direction of the Valet Department.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Creates effective work plans that include identifying the correct resources, processes and space needed to operate parking, transportation and valet services.
  • Assigns posts and activities to staff. Sets up surveillance.
  • Provides training for security officers.
  • Monitors and checks logs and reports for procedural compliance.
  • Assists police department with investigations of incidents on hospital premises.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
