Graduate Medical Education is part of the Patient Safety & Quality Department of Barnes-Jewish Hospital.¿¿GME has oversight for the Residents and Fellows in ACGME accredited training programs that are employed by BJH.¿¿GME is responsible for resident/fellow orientation, payroll, appointment letters,¿medical licensure and numerous related activities.


Overview

Role Purpose

Supporting the department Director's planning goals and objectives via management of the department's financial information systems, computerized maintenance management system and routine departmental operations to include organizing, directing, coordinating and teamwork. Champions pro-active employee relations, managing conflict and/or change towards a productive outcomes. Builds collaborative teams that strive for continuous improvement and business results that meet/exceed every customer's expectation.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Develops financial analysis for labor, supply, contract and utility as compared to various baselines.
  • Manages the various operational and capital budget processes, including monitoring subsequent actual costs against the budgets.
  • Manages the departmental computer system, working with IS to identify hardware and software needs.
