The Nursing Administration Department handles all staffing coordinators and the Clinical Operations Coordinators (COC). The Nursing Administration also coordinates budgeting for the nursing departments located throughout the hospital. The department also handles visitors, expirations and walk-ins.


Overview


Role Purpose

The Vice President, Associate Chief Nurse is responsible for nursing leadership and the operational oversight of nursing services provided across BJH including planning, organizing, and directing nursing across the organization. The VP ACNO works under the leadership of the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and in collaboration with leadership teams to implement patient care delivery models, evidence based clinical and professional standards and policies, as well as innovative staffing strategies. The VP/ACNO collaborates with hospital leaders to ensure nursing fully contributes to advancing hospital goals as well as enhancing care transitions and patient throughput. Supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary/interdepartmental approach to the delivery of patient care. Under the direction of the CNE, the role will be assigned local and/or system level patient care/process improvement activities in accordance with the strategic plan and defined BJC policies and objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Champions collaboration between all departments/divisions to ensure that nursing, non-nursing patient care, ancillary and support services are integrated to provide highly reliable safe, efficient quality patient care outcomes as well as an excellent customer centric experience.
  • Participates in the strategic planning of the organization to optimize the role of nursing services and supporting systems and structures.
  • Champions a work environment that promotes shared governance while reducing injury and violence. Promotes a culture of engagement, recognition, inclusion, and retention.
  • Works with leaders to embed the principles of high reliability, ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and third-party payer regulations and standards.
  • Champions effective recruitment and retention strategies for nursing and related support staff, assisting to lead, develop, and implement new, innovative care delivery models and strategies with an emphasis on promoting equity.
