    Role Purpose

    Responsible for assistance in finding pediatric consumer health information to meet the needs of patients, families and other caregivers. Establish collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses and other clinicians to provide appropriate materials to meet identified educational needs of patrons.


  • Assists patients, families, and other caregivers in consumer health information research efforts, using adult learning theory and age appropriate concepts when providing information.
  • Collaborates with the librarian and others to evaluate, develop, and maintain a multi-media collection to address the informational and educational needs of clients.
  • Acts as a liaison between patrons and hospital physicians and staff, community physicians, school and community health nurses, and other community health professionals with regard to pediatric health information.
  • Promotes awareness and utilization of the Family Resource Center through marketing efforts.
  • Facilitates the development and utilization of patient and family education materials, collaborating with staff to identify educational needs of patients and families, including development of new teaching tools and utilization of resource materials.
    Participates in activities to monitor quality to improve patient and family outcomes, remains abreast of new technology and resources to expand services of the Family Resource Center, and ensures services support the organization’s strategic initiatives.
