Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation.  Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
 

The Health Information Management (Medical Records) Department is a multifaceted department supporting record management for patient care areas as well as administrative departments. Primary responsibilities include maintaining, safeguarding, and processing health information of patient medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements. The department is also responsible for correctly assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to each record to ensure proper and compliant billing.


Overview

Role Purpose

Responsible for providing business function/application support for the business usage of Horizon Patient Folder (HPF) and all related applications. Responsible for the daily monitoring of specific HPF system queues/workflows/errors, training, troubleshooting issues and customer support to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction. Coordinates daily operations in assigned areas of the department in order to provide timely and quality services to all internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors assigned work queues, processes and error logs to ensure operations of Horizon Patient Folders.
  • Prioritizes and disseminates work to employees, and assigns projects as required and provides assistance in all areas of the department.
  • Trains health information team members in various workflows and applications.
  • Executes test plans for system upgrades and new releases.
  • Recommends health information management processes requiring improvement.
