Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation.  Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
 

The Telecommunication¿s department provides immediate communication between hospital departments, physician offices, and the customer(s) using various means and services in an efficient manner to ensure the safety and welfare of our patients and staff. Telecommunications staff utilizes and monitor telephones, paging by public address system, cellular service and monitoring of emergency and informational systems while taking action when appropriate. Duties include; answering phones and directing calls, paging, mobile phone distribution, monitoring 9 emergency systems, contingency phones, phone switch, phone billing to physician offices, and vocera.


Overview


Role Purpose

Under general direction, formulates and defines voice system scope and objectives based on user needs. Responsible for participating in voice infrastructure design by providing design layouts and drawings. Is the subject matter expert for functional areas of voice communications. Consults directly with business users, and provides second-tier support to end users to ensure reliable application system availability and performance.


Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or period of degraded system performance.
  • Coordinates resources for assigned capital projects and plans for future upgrades of existing technology.
  • Works closely with customers to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality voice solutions.
  • Designs, codes, tests, implements, maintains and supports voice software solutions that are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provides ongoing daily support of voice activities including responding to and resolving complex customer trouble tickets.
