    Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital (MBSH) is an acute-care facility located off Highway 44  in Sullivan, Missouri, serving the residents of Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties.  MBSH just recently completed an 8-year journey from a very small facility to a very, very modern facility that can treat and take care of patients with special problems. The Wound Care Center, which is the newest specialized center of its kind within a 60-mile radius, is a perfect example of that. MBSH also operates a visiting specialty clinic program in its Medical Office Building. Visiting physicians with expertise in a variety of medical specialties come to the Hospital from Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.     Our full-service CAP certified laboratory is open 24/7. The lab performs a variety of tests including basic and comprehensive profiles, lipid panels, complete blood count, coagulation studies and therapeutic drug testing. The lab also provides blood bank services and features an outpatient drawing room.


    Overview


    Role Purpose

    The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice


    Responsibilities

  • Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
  • Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action. 
  • Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to  the appropriate department.
  • Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
  • Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
