    Role Purpose

    Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 and CPT classifications in compliance with regulatory agency guidelines for specialty care physician offices. The Coder is responsible for coding procedures performed by physician specialists in the hospital setting for a professional fee.


  • Performs accurate data entry by utilizing computerized abstracting system.
  • Assigns codes for all primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
  • Queries physician for clarification or additional information as required.
  • Meets production and quality standards for number of records coded and abstracted.
  • Ensures completeness and quality of record coding.

  • High School Diploma or GED
