    Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation.  Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
     

    Operating room facilities featuring 22 surgical units, including two state of the art hybrid rooms for cardiac and vascular procedures. Peri-operative area includes pre-op holding, acute post-op recovery/level 1 and outpatient/level 2 recovery, Surgery Express, and recently redesigned Pre-operative Assessment Process. The surgical staff includes specialists in cardiovascular and thoracic, plastic, orthopedic, vascular, opthalmologic, urologic, oral, neurologic, otolaryngologic, dental, gynecologic, and general surgery.

    Role Purpose

    Coordinates and is responsible for the billing of surgical services charges and the scheduling of all surgical and
    anesthesia patients following departmental guidelines. Maintains Physician Preference File, internal and outside facilities‘
    statistics and billing/scheduling information.


    Responsibilities

  • Coordinates billing and medical records functions and processes.
  • Coordinates with other departments to refine processes, resolve problems, and accelerate payment of
    receivables.
  • Analyzes and communicates the effects of regulatory or operational changes in third
    party requirements to staff.
  • Maintains a comprehensive policy and procedure manual for billing or collections
    and medical records.
  • Evaluates departmental procedures and actively seeks methods of achieving greater efficiencies through new techniques or automation.
