BJC Corporate Health Services, the occupational medicine organization within BJC HealthCare, externally supports employers and employees of the St. Louis metropolitan area with three full-service BarnesCare clinics that provide expert physicals, surveillance, injury/exposure evaluation and treatment. Specialized services include contract management of work-related injury care for BJC hospitals, independent medical exams, traveler's health, on-site services, care management, toxicology support and two 24/7 hotlines for body substance exposures and emergency room coordination of work-related care. BJC Corporate Health Services provides occupational health support for BJC employees through on-site and virtual oversight including administration of workers' compensation. BJC Corporate Health Services also manages the BJC WellAware fitness center, which extends fitness opportunities with on-site classes at BJC hospitals throughout the metropolitan area. In 2010, BJC Corporate Health Services became the first and only St. Louis occupational medicine provider quality-certified by the National Association of Occupational Health Providers.

The Occupational Health Services group within BJC Corporate Health Services provides occupational health, infection control and ergonomics services to BJC employees throughout BJC HealthCare.


Overview


Role Purpose

Supervises and provides exceptional care of employees, and other workers (i.e. construction) through coordination of the Workers' Compensation program, utilizing case risk assessment and management methods. Facilitates employees' and workers' return to maximum health and return to work within their capabilities with the least amount of work time lost. May also provide new employee physical assessments, required testing/immunization and educational programs.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies. Provides accurate documentation as required.
  • May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Oversees the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the medical care (including injuries and exposures) of employees, volunteers, other workers and physicians.
  • Works with Infection Control Coordinator regarding infectious diseases as they relate to employees, volunteers and
    physicians.
  • Initiates, develops, and or revises policies and procedures for the department.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
