Information Services is comprised of over 650 individuals working together to provide effective delivery of system development, implentation and support as well as strategic IT planning and analysis to BJC's Hospitals and health Service Organizations.


Role Purpose

The Manager, Vendor Management reports to the Director, Vendor Management and is responsible for managing the strategic relationships for vendors in the IT ecosystem, with a primary goal of driving successful outcomes from the Supplier base, while supporting analysis and reporting of Supplier performance within IT to the appropriate stakeholders. Key stakeholders include IT leadership, Sourcing/Procurement leadership, as well as the IT Service Delivery Executive and Managers (SDMs) that have primary accountability for day-to-day oversight of the Suppliers’ outcomes. The Vendor Manager provides core expertise in the four process domains (i.e., Performance Management, Contract Management, Relationship Management, and Financial Management) in support of sourcing and contract execution lifecycles.


  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Monitor, evaluate and develop the applicable insight regarding all relevant service- and supplier- based performance metrics.
  • Work with Service Delivery Managers and other key stakeholders to develop service performance analysis and insights that will support IT’s performance-based discussions with its Suppliers, including recognition of consistently strong performance and/or less than acceptable performance.
  • Proactively oversee Suppliers’ compliance with contractual terms and conditions, routine attestations and reports, and critical deliverables, and facilitate timely problem resolution of contractual issues to minimize impact of service disruptions.
  • Support collaborative IT Supplier relationships with accurate and insightful analysis that promotes effective communication, and enhances Supplier discussions during governance meetings; work with key stakeholders to facilitate the preparation for, and participation in, periodic demand forecasting discussions between IT and its Suppliers.
  • Drive financial performance in the context of credits/holdbacks to be levied for performance failures; provide support for the budget and forecast process by analyzing and sharing with cost center owners, and IT Finance, historical Supplier spend information.
