The Quality Assurance Department proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and assist clinicians to participate effectively in Quality Improvement activities.  The Cancer Registry primary function is to report all incidence of malignancies as required and to maintain and support a Cancer Registry Program that meets State reporting standards.


Overview


Role Purpose

Ensures key methods are utilized to improve all aspects of patient safety, clinical quality, and performance improvement. Supervises a team of clinical and administrative professionals responsible for developing and deploying patient safety and clinical quality services and support to the organization, which includes: Patient Safety, Infection Control, and Performance Measurement.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Develops and implements a framework for an integrated approach to patient safety, infection control, and performance measurement.
  • Performs strategic system analysis and develops strategies for improvement.
  • Performs process and system analysis support, planning, and coordination of error reduction strategies in all patient care areas.
  • Directs, coordinates, and evaluates surveillance, prevention and control programs to improve patient safety and reduce risk to the patients and the organization.
  • Oversees the development and deployment of basic patient safety education, training curriculum, on-going training, employee orientation, and competency testing.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
