Our Northwest HealthCare campus, located six miles west of Christian Hospital in Florissant, offers the community 24-hour emergency care as well as a variety of outpatient services and physician practices.

The safety department's goal is to maintain a safe work environment for all staff and visitors.  Safety is responsible for the hospital, medical office building and Village North Nursing Home, plus parking lots and roadways.  The safety coordinator performs routine checks on the physical environment, monitors process and policies for safety issues and concerns. 


Overview


Role Purpose

Manage and be accountable for administrative and operational activities for Environmental Health and Safety programs including budget, hiring, supervision, direction, program and staff development. To ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to environmental and safety, emergency preparedness for the hospital and affiliated campuses. Coordinates all safety activities with other hospital campuses, public emergency responders and project management teams for new/ongoing construction and renovation, acting in the role of the duly authorized safety officer.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops, implements and maintains all policies, procedures and regulatory programming in safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, and environmental policies mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Develops and implements environmental safety and fire prevention training programs.
  • Reviews constructions drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with all safety, fire and industrial hygiene regulatory standards.
  • Conducts accident Investigations and Job and Worksite Hazard Analyses.

    Degree

    Experience

  • 5-10 years
