Role Purpose

Responsible for strategic direction, implementation and oversight in areas of Emergency Preparedness, Safety, Environmental Engineering and the recall notification process for BJC HealthCare. Represents BJC with all federal, state and local authorities in regard to emergency preparedness planning, mitigation and recovery. Facilitates community and BJC HealthCare interactions in the area of emergency preparedness and safety.


  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Develops and facilitates strategic directions for emergency preparedness and environmental safety.
  • Develops and promotes the BJC Emergency Preparedness and Safety program through professional organization presentations and professional publications and training.
  • Responsible for oversight and development of all grant activity related to emergency preparedness and safety.
  • Represents BJC with all federal, state and local authorities in regard to emergency planning and safety. Represents BJC HealthCare on the HealthCare Coalition Committee and other regional and state committees.

  • Bachelor's Degree


  • 5-10 years

    Supervisor Experience

  • 5-10 years
