Role Purpose

Responsible for the strategic oversight, development and execution of external and internal communications plans. The individual uses traditional and digital/social media, web, publications, internal communications and crisis management tactics to promote the business goals, brand identity and reputation of the HSO to key target audiences. Key member of the Marketing and Communications leadership team and works to maintain high standards with internal and external clients, manages and develops staff, prepares and manages budgets, and participates in department and hospital organizational development.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages and evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Partners and collaborates with hospital leadership, physicians, clinical departments and other partners, as appropriate to develop and execute the media relations strategy in support of the business plan for assigned products and market segments.
  • Oversees and implements media relations initiatives to achieve business plans goals.
  • Identifies and responds to community outreach opportunities in alignment with the hospital's strategic objectives for external media exposure and expectations.
  • Builds and maintains solid partnerships with key local and national media professionals.
  • Develops, manages and executes crisis communication planning.
