Role Purpose

Develop and oversee a uniform health and safety program for BJC Health System. Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with all TJC, federal, state and local safety/health standards.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Coordinates and monitors a uniform health and safety program for BJC Health System. Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with all TJC, federal, state and local safety/health standards. Develops written System safety and health policies to comply with safety and health regulations.
  • Provides oversight to BJC entities on safety and health regulations, practices, and technology and support facilities. Provides safety & health education and training for the BJC entities. Performs Environmental Health and Safety audits.
  • Provides strategic direction and oversight on implementation of construction safety programs across BJC in support of ongoing construction projects.
  • Responsible for creation, management and oversight of system-wide strategic plan related to personal protective equipment (PPE) for high risk drugs and integration of PPE for BJC pharmacists and clinical staff.
  • Manages oversight of de-escalation and hands on training scheduling for all hospitals using the STARR program. Manages development of contracts, strategic direction and negotiation between the users and the contractor.
