Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation.  Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
 

The Neurodiagnostic Services Department at Boone Hospital Center provides inpatient and outpatient services for evaluation neurological, neurophysiological, and sleep disorders. A variety of procedures are available including electroencephalography (EEG), continuous EEG/Video epilepsy monitoring, Evoked Potential Testing, Electromyogram and Nerve Conduction Velocity testing (EMG/NCV), Photoelectronystagmography (PENG) testing for balance disorders, outpatient polysomnography (PSG) for sleep disorders including Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT), and Visual Filed Testing with Goldmann Perimetry..

Role Purpose

Directs all daily operations for the Neurodiagnostic department, including Sleep Lab. Maintains standards of quality and oversees all technical aspects of both areas. Provides ongoing communication to other departments and referring physicians. Develops, implements and evaluates new programs and/or improves existing programs.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Oversees daily operations of the neurodiagnostic department and sleep lab.
  • Ensures proper staffing complement and manages the staff's performance.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other departments to ensure quality patient care.
  • Assists in developing strategic goals for the department.

    Degree
