The Occupational Health/Workers Compensation Department directs the development and implementation of hospital regulatory and accreditation compliance programming in the areas of Injury Prevention, Occupational Health, and Workers Compensation. This department acts on behalf of Barnes-Jewish Hospital as an external liaison to all BJC, federal and state regulatory agencies which mandate and enforce worker and health safety laws. The department works directly with these agencies in the areas of strategic planning, policy development, documentation, reporting and audits. The department leads Injury Prevention and Injury Management at BJH, which includes 10,000+ individuals, as well as off-site locations including BJC Extended Care, the Orthopedic Center, and BJC Behavioral Health.

Role Purpose

Responsible for supervising the daily operations of Occupational Health, managing the Workers' Compensation program, and coordinating delivery of the HSO's Occupational Health Services.


Responsibilities

  • Provides accurate documentation as required.
  • Evaluates employee injuries and facilitates appropriate treatment and follow-up.
  • Coordinates and delivers occupational health services to employees.
  • Responsible for case management oversight and coordination for all worker's compensation claims.
  • Performs pre-employment physicals for newly hired employees to determine their eligibility and capacity for the position.
