Role Purpose

The Director, Data Architecture & Analytics Platforms will build and nurture the implementation of the BJC data/information architecture and data analytics platforms functions. This leader will maintain accountability for the structure and integrity of information that is maintained within BJC systems and platforms. He/she will define the vision, principles and processes that guide the purchase, design and deployment of data platform technology within BJC, assuring that technology solutions meet business requirements while aligning with long-term architectural goals and integrating seamlessly across multiple platforms and systems.


  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Lead a team to develop long-term roadmaps for all data and information platforms – considering the needs of the patients and providers, users, volume growth projections, existing vendor contracts and timeframes – in the areas of Data Management & Integration, Master Data Management (MDM), Big Data and Business Intelligence (BI).
  • Develop a capability to assure the definition, development and maintenance of BJC data and information architecture standards and principles; set data architecture standards, methodologies, and requirements to strengthen the network effect of sharing data across the enterprise.
  • Define and develop a strategy for the design, deployment and utilization of Big Data technologies and analytics platforms; mobilize a team to plan and recommend data hardware, systems management software and firmware.
  • Collaborate with industry analysts, software vendors and internal stakeholders (when necessary) to build a holistic view of BJC’s data assets and architectures.
  • Have a working level understanding of each IT enterprise architecture domain, while also having deep subject matter expertise within the data/information domain, and the ability to communicate its role and importance to others in the Strategy and Architecture tower, the rest of IT, and the broader BJC business community.
