Strategic Planning is charged with identifying and analyzing strategic choices, both on a system-wide level, and in partnership with individual hospitals and service organizations. Guided by five areas of emphasis: 1) strategic planning consultation; 2) business and capital planning; 3) think-tank analysis; 4) market intelligence and competitor analysis, and; 5) market research and call center operations, this function provides thought leadership to BJC¿s senior leadership team in addressing healthcare industry trends.

Role Purpose

Responsible for leading major planning projects including strategic planning, clinical service lines planning, and performing significant financial, analytical, and strategic analysis.


  • Responsible for planning on strategic capital construction projects to achieve desired project goals and business outcomes in support of the organization's mission and values.
  • Act as an internal consultant to guide hospitals and service organizations in strategic capital planning decision making in the management of space and occupants to determine highest and best use as aligns with strategic plans.
  • Manage client (e.g., SEOs, presidents, entity directors and BJC business managers) relationships, planning expectations with regarding to business opportunities that advance business priorities.
  • Independently plan and organize work flow for projects with state of the art planning to address client expectations and hospital priorities.
