Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The GI Lab provides diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with the latest technology and treatment modalities. Staff include Certified Nurses, technicians and physicians specially trained in the complete care of the Gastrointestinal system. Endoscopic examinations of the upper and lower GI tract are performed under the guidance of Board Certified anesthesiologists. The GI Lab has convenient access and scheduling for the out-patient population, and the immediate support from all of Boone Hospitals' amenities as needed or desired for treatment and consultation. Our care spectrum includes state of the art diagnostic esophageal manometry and pH testing, screening procedures for esophageal and colon cancer as well as ongoing care and treatment for diseases of the GI tract, pancreatic and liver disorders and cancer.

Role Purpose

Under the direction of an RN and/or physician, the Endoscopy Technician assists with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including transporting patients, disinfecting and processing equipment, preparing the procedure room, and monitoring patient vital signs.


Responsibilities

  • Assists physician and nurse in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Monitors vital signs.
  • Prepares procedure room for patient.
  • Transports patients and assists patients with changing.
