Role Purpose

Responsible for data collection, summation, and reporting regarding specific patient populations. The position is involved with supporting the Cardiac and Vascular Service Line, including quality improvement efforts and limited provision of clinical care.


Responsibilities

  • Abstracts, organizes, and inputs data into database for the program. Interprets/analyzes data to determine trends, identify causative factors, and determine opportunities for improvement. Maintains and coordinates updates of the database; communicates with relevant parties. Coordinates data clean up and data harvests when appropriate.
  • Inputs data into the national database. Performs outcomes analysis, identifies trends, initiates review and assists with coordination of quality improvement. Generates outcome reports with dissemination to committees, physicians / surgeons and managers.
  • Coordinates the quality initiatives related to the program at local, system and national levels. Abstracts and organizes data obtained from retrospective chart review of patient subsets.
  • Acts as educational resource for other members of the team. Performs chart review for current PI projects. Assists team with provision of data reports, for meeting and other QI efforts. Attends and participates in meetings and conference calls.
  • Ensures data integrity and timely harvest according to relevant association definitions / specifications. Collaborates with the team to ensure validity of data. Validates data and ensures integrity of data / databases. Generates outcome reports with dissemination to appropriate committees, managers, chief and staff surgeons.
