Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Refugee Health and Interpreter Services is a division of the BJH Center for Diversity and Cultural Competence. Its mission is to bridge cultural and communication gaps that might otherwise block the delivery of patient centered and clinically effective care to immigrants and others with language barriers. It consists of 40 individuals who provide interpretation, translation and/or cross cultural bridging for over 41,000 health care encounters in more than 81 languages annually. Although based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, this diverse team functions across the Washington University Medical Center campus as well as providing outreach services in the local community.
