The Community Education Staff is comprised of registered nurses and registered dietitians committed to living a healthy lifestyle. Community Education provides health promotion and disease prevention services in the Greater St. Louis region using a system based model - partnering with various community organizations including businesses, faith-based and non-for-profit organizations and public/government service groups. The goal of Community Education is to enhance access to health care services and promote health and wellness within Missouri Baptist and in the community. The Community Education staff helps individuals identify their risk for disease and the steps they can take to improve their overall health.

Role Purpose

Provide advanced medical nutrition therapy (nutrition assessment, nutrition screening, counseling, education, modified diet formulation, nutrition intervention, nutrition support) for in-patients and out-patients (clinic setting) appropriate to age-related needs and diagnosis/disease. Provides basic MNT for all patient populations and advanced MNT for specialized patient populations (Ketogenic, CF, Renal, SICU, PICU, NICU). Maintains high level of involvement and visibility in patient care areas.


Responsibilities

  • Assesses, makes recommendations and plans for patient's medical nutrition therapy.
  • Implements medical nutrition care in collaboration with the medical team.
  • Promotes dietetics through education, training and participation in research.

    Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree
