Role Purpose

The Associate Director, Stewardship & Donor Relations is responsible for strategically creating and managing a core platform of donor relations and stewardship activities to support an ambitious fundraising agenda for programs and initiatives sponsored by the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Foundation. This position will develop and consistently deliver exceptional donor experiences, care and touchpoints that build trusted and loyal relationships differentiating our Foundation from other institutions. The Associate Director will also lead and inspire a growing team of stewardship professionals and work collaboratively with colleagues across the Foundation as a passionate ambassador for St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This position reports to the Executive Director of Philanthropy.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Proactively identifies and develops strategic donor recognition plans and stewardship opportunities to engage donors and maximize an exceptional donor experience across all giving channels. Partners with Senior Leadership and Foundation staff to build customized recognition, stewardship programs and/or events for donors at all levels that meet the specific needs of each revenue cycle.
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs to appropriately announce and promote significant gifts to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Additionally, manages the approval process for naming opportunities and maintains the inventory of opportunities both available and committed.
  • Utilize the Donor Management System to effectively enter, track and retrieve stewardship and donor relations information. Collect comparative data and program information to evaluate, benchmark and improve stewardship.
  • Provide customized stewardship and impact reporting while ensuring contracted commitments to specific donors are honored. Work with Finance to ensure processes are in place for the timely preparation, review and delivery of financial reports to endowed fund donors. Effectively interpret the endowed fund financial management policies and the information within those reports to donors.
