Role Purpose

The Center Director has the overall responsibility for the multidisciplinary staff of the surgery center including responsibility for the operating rooms, MRI suite and diagnostic radiology suites. This includes accountability for the quality of care patients receive, performance of personnel under their supervision and cost effective operation of the facility. This also includes assuring that all guests receive a high level of attention and prompt, courteous service. The Director is responsible for coordinating all services and assuring that patient flow is optimized. The Director is also responsible for providing leadership through positive role modeling of the BJC Mission, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine core values.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Plans, develops, and directs the multidisciplinary staff and functions of the surgery center including the operating rooms, MRI suite and diagnostic radiology suites.
  • Coordinates all services and ensures that patient flow is optimized.
  • Ensures effective coordination and collaboration with medical director and medical staff.
  • Sets the overall goals and strategies for the surgery center.
