Our Northwest HealthCare campus, located six miles west of Christian Hospital in Florissant, offers the community 24-hour emergency care as well as a variety of outpatient services and physician practices.

The Health Information Management (Medical Records) Department is a multifaceted department supporting record management for patient care areas as well as administrative departments. Primary responsibilities include maintaining, safeguarding, and processing health information of patient medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements. The department is also responsible for correctly assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to each record to ensure proper and compliant billing.

Role Purpose

To collect, maintain, and make available to authorized users timely, accurate and complete patient health information. Responsibilities include: maintenance of scanned images, loosesheet processing, record analysis, and deficiency tracking, quality review of all record types, clerical support, customer service via phone and written requests, research, record copying and printing. Ability to help resolve HIM issues with co-workers and other hospital staff.


Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper maintenance of patient charts and records.
  • Reviews requests for release of information and releases information only in accordance with hospital, state and federal requirements.
  • Retrieves medical records utilizing Chart Management System.
  • Analyzes record content for determination of compliance with standards as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Performs department clerical duties.
