Role Purpose

Oversees the day to day supervision and management of the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Plans, organizes and directs Health Information Services. Provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all aspects of health information management.


Responsibilities

  • Participates in a decision making capacity regarding development and implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Directs operations and integrates services within the work unit and with other departments.
  • Manages operational activities related to health information management.
  • Coordinates activities to ensure health information management remain compliant with each of the requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate quality assurance reviews.

    Degree

    Experience

  • 2-5 years
