Role Purpose

Reports to an Senior Associate Dean of Research to facilitate doctoral programs and overall program operational responsibility. Collaboratively works with the Goldfarb Office of Student Affairs and serves as the liaison with Washington University Graduate School, program directors, and faculty to ensure that students satisfy degree requirements. Will partner with Goldfarb advisors in review and accurate processing of student applications through the admission process. The Doctoral Program Advisor manages an advisee caseload by actively engaging with students through individual appointments and group advising. The role will guide doctoral and PhD candidates helping them select coursework as well as shaping and refining student’s discipline. Experience with academic advising, mentoring and establishing rapport with students of all levels of education and diverse backgrounds.


Responsibilities

  • Communicate academic and nonacademic requirements, policies and procedures to prospective and admitted students, staff, and faculty.
  • Advises enrolled students on academic policies and procedures, degree program requirements, graduation, and monitors academic progress of current doctoral nursing students and implements academic support services for at-risk nursing students.
  • Creates and prepares documents that are needed for accreditation bodies.
  • Assist with application and admission process including evaluation of transcripts, review of applications, dissemination of admission decisions, and organization of new student orientation.
  • Serve on DNP and PhD program working committees to promote mission of the doctoral programs and the GSON.
