The Family Care Pharmacy offers a professional retail pharmacy experience. The pharmacy provides discharge medications for obstetrics, outpatient surgery, and the Cancer/Infusion Center. Pharmacists are actively involved in counseling patients and interacting with other medical personnel. Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Role Purpose

Under the direct supervision of staff pharmacists, according to standard procedures, prepares medication orders, assists in dispensing and transporting medications, conducts sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, interacts with various automated systems and maintains appropriate records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains quality assurance standards and maintenance of required documentation. Includes maintaining regulatory cleanliness compliance.
  • Assists in the preparation of medication orders which includes customer interaction, management of workflow, and basic preparation and dispensing.
  • Accurately prepare sterile/non-sterile compounding to meet patient specific needs in compliance with national standards and department guidelines.
  • Use of automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory management, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintenance of inventory which includes inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
