Role Purpose

Under the direct supervision of staff pharmacists, according to standard procedures, prepares medication orders, assists in dispensing and transporting medications, conducts complex sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, such as TPNs (excluded in retail), hazardous drugs, is competent in the use of various automated/electronic systems and maintains appropriate records.


  • Maintains quality assurance standards and maintenance of required documentation. Includes maintaining regulatory cleanliness compliance.
  • Assists in the preparation of medication orders which includes customer interaction, management of workflow, and basic preparation and dispensing.
  • Accurately prepare sterile/non-sterile compounding, including TPN and hazardous drugs to meet patient specific needs in compliance with national standards and department guidelines.
  • Maintenance of inventory which includes inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
  • Assumes core responsibility for a specific task or function of area of specialty which includes training, system maintenance, inventory management, workflow, and process improvement, as well as use of automated/ectronic systems.
