Administers the Audit Services function for the system. This includes the performance of audit risk analyses to identify exposure areas throughout the system, establish the scope of audit activity, determines audit priorities, plans and organizes departmental activity and effectively deploys audit staff.

Role Purpose

Directs a team of internal IS audit staff who monitor BJC’s systems, infrastructure, and IT processes to ensure that BJC has adequate controls to meet business objectives and customer needs, and that the IT practices comply with BJC policies and procedures and government regulations. The manager must retain authority, encourage creative problem solving, and promote a constructive work environment for the staff. The manager must be able to direct the IS audit and data analytic functions while understanding the risks associated with current and emerging technologies.


  • Manages the daily activities of the IS Audit staff, including ensuring the staff has a good understanding of necessary audit concepts and procedures, determining audit priorities, establishing the scope of audit activities, deploying audit staff, and reviewing audit work performed by staff members for adequacy of coverage and soundness of judgment.
  • Assists in the development of the annual Audit Plan, representing the Audit Services department at meetings and facilitating cooperation and collaboration across all BJC departments and organizations and at all levels within the organization, and stays continually abreast of relevant industry issues through independent research in order to identify and evaluate the impact of such information on BJC HealthCare
  • Participates on information system implementation teams and steering committees in order to identify areas of significant exposure, guide management on internal control issues and educate members on information systems control matters.
  • Manages the Data Analytics function within the department and assists with obtaining and coordination of data needs.
  • Oversees any outsourced IT audit engagements to ensure third party needs, and the audit scope and objectives are met.
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
