The Obstetrics/Gynecology clinic serves women from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, the majority of whom come from the St. Louis metropolitan area. Any woman, regardless of age, is eligible to receive care in the OB-BYN Clinic. Patients are seen for routine OB-GYN care including prenatal care, well women exams, and family planning. The OB-GYN Clinic provides outpatient OB-GYN care and nursing care through health promotion, prenatal screening, diagnosis, treatment, and education.

Role Purpose

Provides advocacy, education and resource referral to promote women’s health. Functions as an educator, researcher, and consultant. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to assist patient and families with healthy behaviors, healthy outcomes, prenatally, post-partum, and through the life-span.


Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and manages educational and support programs that promote women's health.
  • Develops and facilitates evidenced based programs to educate professionals and the community.
  • Applies and participates in clinical research for continuous improvement of nursing practice and improved outcomes.
  • Conducts age-appropriate assessments and re-assessments on patients.
  • Collaborates with staff nurses and other health care team members to plan and implement delivery of care.
